Booking information
Terms & Conditions
These Terms apply to bookings made with RideWithPete, including N2 Guided Tours, private Algarve guided cycling and other RideWithPete services.
Last updated: 11 August 2026
1. Bookings and acceptance
A booking is confirmed only when RideWithPete has confirmed it and any required booking payment or deposit has been received. Availability remains subject to capacity and confirmation.
Customers must provide accurate contact and booking information. The person making a group booking is responsible for ensuring that every member of the group understands these Terms.
Services booked for specific dates or periods may not benefit from the standard 14-day cancellation right for online purchases where applicable law provides an exception for leisure services on specific dates. This does not remove any other statutory consumer rights.
2. N2 Guided Tours
Deposit
The N2 booking deposit is non-refundable if the customer cancels. RideWithPete may, entirely at its discretion, allow a deposit to be transferred to a future RideWithPete tour in appropriate circumstances. A transfer is not an automatic right and is subject to availability and any price difference for the future tour.
Balance payment
The remaining tour balance may be paid on arrival before the tour begins unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing. Customers paying the balance by card must do so before RideWithPete departs onto the road or tour route, as card payment cannot be guaranteed once the tour is underway. RideWithPete may agree an alternative payment time or method directly with the customer.
Minimum riders and guaranteed departure
Minimum riders for a guaranteed departure: 5. A scheduled N2 departure is guaranteed once bookings from at least five riders have been confirmed. RideWithPete will confirm the status of the departure no later than 60 days before departure.
If fewer than five riders are booked at that stage, RideWithPete may choose to operate the tour, offer an alternative departure or arrangement, or cancel the departure. Customers do not have to accept an alternative.
If RideWithPete cancels because minimum numbers have not been reached, all money paid directly to RideWithPete for that booking, including the normally non-refundable deposit, will be refunded in full. RideWithPete is not responsible for independently booked flights, transfers, bike hire, accommodation outside the RideWithPete booking or other travel arrangements, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Customers should insure those risks appropriately.
Customer cancellation
If the customer cancels, the deposit remains non-refundable. Any balance already paid is subject to the specific cancellation arrangement confirmed with the customer. In appropriate or exceptional circumstances RideWithPete may consider transferring a deposit to a future tour, but is not obliged to do so.
3. Cancellation by RideWithPete
If RideWithPete cancels a booked service, 100% of the money paid directly to RideWithPete for that cancelled service will be refunded.
RideWithPete is not responsible for consequential costs independently incurred by the customer, including flights, transfers, separately booked accommodation, bike hire or other travel costs, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Appropriate travel insurance is strongly required.
4. Private Algarve guided cycling
RideWithPete supplies private guided cycling only. RideWithPete does not supply or reserve accommodation, take payment for accommodation, sell flights, arrange airport transfers or package accommodation with guided cycling. Customers arrange and pay for their own accommodation and travel.
For Algarve guided cycling, customers must accommodate themselves between Portimão and Alvor unless RideWithPete agrees otherwise. Each booking is private to that customer or group; unrelated customers are not mixed together.
Algarve cancellation policy
Cancellation is free up to 14 days before the first scheduled guided ride. If the customer cancels within 14 days, any amount already paid for the cancelled booking is non-refundable, except where otherwise agreed or required by law. Where no advance payment has been taken, no cancellation charge will normally be pursued.
RideWithPete may offer a date transfer or credit in exceptional circumstances, but this is discretionary unless otherwise agreed. If RideWithPete cancels and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, amounts paid directly to RideWithPete for the cancelled guided service will be refunded.
5. Itineraries, routes and changes
Cycling depends on weather, traffic and road conditions. Where reasonably necessary for safety, weather, road closures, traffic, rider ability, emergencies or operational reasons, RideWithPete may alter the route, distance, start or finish time, planned riding day, rest stops or sequence of riding.
A route change does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund where the essential guided cycling service is still provided.
Weather
Ordinary rain, wind, heat or changing weather does not automatically result in cancellation or refund. RideWithPete determines whether conditions are reasonably safe and may delay, shorten, reroute or move a ride where practical.
If RideWithPete cancels a guided ride for safety reasons and cannot reasonably reschedule it or provide an agreed alternative, any amount paid directly to RideWithPete for the affected guided cycling service will be refunded.
Choosing to stop or miss riding
No refund is normally due for unused riding or services where a customer chooses not to ride, abandons or misses a ride, arrives late, becomes tired, changes their mind, dislikes the weather or cannot complete a route for reasons not caused by RideWithPete, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
6. Rider fitness, experience and health
Customers are responsible for ensuring that they are physically capable of the cycling they book. They should provide honest information about fitness and cycling experience, disclose relevant medical conditions, injuries or limitations that could affect safe participation, and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary. Irrelevant medical information is not required.
RideWithPete may modify a ride where rider ability or safety requires it.
Safety and instructions
Riders must follow reasonable RideWithPete safety instructions, comply with Portuguese road laws, ride responsibly, respect other road users and wear an appropriate cycling helmet. Riders must not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs or medication that makes riding unsafe.
RideWithPete may refuse or stop participation where a rider creates a material safety risk. No refund is normally due where participation ends because of the customer’s serious unsafe behaviour, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Customer insurance
All customers must arrange appropriate travel and cycling insurance suitable for the activities booked. Customers must check that their policy covers road cycling and their personal circumstances, including where relevant medical expenses, emergency treatment, repatriation, cancellation or curtailment, personal belongings and bicycle or bike-hire risks.
Customer insurance does not replace any insurance obligation that RideWithPete may have under applicable law.
7. Bicycles, equipment and personal property
Customers must ensure that bicycles and equipment they provide are roadworthy and suitable. Bike hire may be sourced separately by the customer or through an independent supplier, whose rental terms may apply. Customers are responsible for damage caused by misuse or negligence where the supplier’s terms provide for this.
RideWithPete is not responsible for ordinary mechanical failure of customer-owned equipment unless caused by RideWithPete’s negligence. Customers remain responsible for their bicycles, luggage, phones, cameras, valuables and other belongings. RideWithPete does not accept liability for loss or theft outside its reasonable control, while preserving liability required by law or arising from RideWithPete’s negligence.
8. Accommodation, travel and third-party suppliers
For Algarve bookings, customers book and pay for accommodation themselves. Where accommodation or another service is expressly included in a specific RideWithPete booking, the booking confirmation identifies what is included. Flights, transfers, bike hire, accommodation and other services not expressly included remain the customer’s responsibility.
Some services may be provided by independent third parties. Where a customer contracts directly with a third party, that supplier’s terms apply and RideWithPete is not responsible for that supplier’s acts or omissions except where applicable law provides otherwise. This does not avoid responsibility for services RideWithPete has itself contracted to provide.
9. Photography
RideWithPete may take photographs during rides. Identifiable promotional or marketing use will be subject to appropriate permission or consent where required. Customers may tell Pete if they do not wish to appear in promotional material.
10. Liability and statutory rights
Cycling involves inherent risks and customers voluntarily participate in an outdoor road-cycling activity. Customers remain responsible for their riding decisions and for complying with reasonable safety instructions.
RideWithPete does not exclude liability where it cannot legally be excluded. Any limitation of liability remains subject to Portuguese law.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory consumer rights.
11. Events outside reasonable control
RideWithPete may modify, postpone or cancel a service where necessary because of extreme weather, wildfire, natural disaster, serious road closure, civil emergency, government restrictions, strikes or other extraordinary circumstances outside its reasonable control.
Refund or credit handling will depend on what RideWithPete can still provide, money actually recoverable or owed, and applicable consumer law. Such events are not automatically treated as non-refundable.
12. Customer conduct
RideWithPete may terminate participation where a customer seriously endangers themselves or others, repeatedly ignores reasonable safety instructions, behaves abusively, intentionally or recklessly damages property, or creates serious disruption. No refund is normally due where participation is reasonably terminated for serious customer misconduct, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
13. Prices and payment
Prices quoted or confirmed by RideWithPete apply to that specific booking. Algarve guided cycling is individually quoted according to the customer’s requirements. N2 pricing and inclusions are those in the booking confirmation or sales information applicable at the time.
Customers must pay using the agreed method and timetable. RideWithPete may correct an obvious pricing error before confirming a booking.
14. Website information
RideWithPete aims to keep website information accurate, but routes, photographs, descriptions, timings and availability may change. Confirmed booking details take precedence over general website information where there is a genuine conflict.
15. Complaints
Customers should contact RideWithPete promptly so there is an opportunity to understand and resolve the issue. Contact RideWithPete.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Portuguese law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that may apply to them under applicable consumer law.
17. Changes to these Terms
RideWithPete may update these Terms. The version that normally applies to a booking is the version supplied or made available when the booking was confirmed, unless a change is required by law or both parties agree otherwise.
